The box is the fancy text generator from FontFancy opened on its serif styles, with the sans-serif versions next to them so you can compare. Below you will find the serif alphabet letter by letter, ready-made serif words and bio lines, and the one italic letter Unicode borrowed from physics.
Serif alphabet to copy
Serif bold is the only serif style with digits; serif italic has letters only. Tap a letter to copy it on its own, useful for initials or a single styled capital.
Bold serif AโZ, aโz, 0โ9 (62)
Italic serif AโZ, aโz (52)
Bold italic serif alphabet
Only need heavy letters? The bold text generator covers every bold style, including sans-serif bold and bold script.
Serif words and bio lines
Serif reads as classic and editorial, which is why it is a favourite for Instagram bios and captions. Copy a word as it is or use it as a pattern.

Serif names with symbols
These combinations of serif letters and decoration are taken from the name styles people already use; they paste as one piece into a display name.
Serif vs sans-serif: which one to copy
Serif letters have small feet at the ends of their strokes; sans-serif letters are plain. Use serif for a classic, bookish look and sans-serif when you want the styled text to blend with Instagramโs own interface font.

| Style | Example | Starts at |
|---|---|---|
| Serif bold | ๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐ | U+1D400 |
| Serif italic | ๐๐๐๐๐ | U+1D434 |
| Serif bold italic | ๐บ๐๐๐๐ | U+1D468 |
| Sans-serif | ๐ฒ๐บ๐๐ | U+1D5A0 |
| Sans-serif bold | ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ป๐ | U+1D5D4 |
| Sans-serif italic | ๐๐ข๐ฏ๐ด | U+1D608 |
Unicode block and the missing italic h
All serif styles live in the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block (U+1D400โU+1D7FF), which mathematicians use for variables. One slot is empty: the italic h. Its place was already taken by โ, the Planck constant (U+210E, Letterlike Symbols), so every correct serif italic converter swaps it in.

Unicode block: Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols โ serif bold U+1D400โU+1D433, serif italic U+1D434โU+1D467 (h = โ U+210E), serif bold italic U+1D468โU+1D49B, bold digits U+1D7CEโU+1D7D7. Checked against the Unicode Character Database, 30 September 2026.
Where serif text works (checked 30 September 2026)
Serif Unicode letters paste into the name, bio and message fields of Instagram, WhatsApp and Discord, and usually into Free Fire and BGMI names; they fail in @usernames and on devices whose fonts lack the maths block.
| Where you paste | Works? | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Instagram name, bio, captions | Yes | @username stays plain; each serif letter counts as 2 characters |
| WhatsApp profile name, About, messages | Yes | Short profile names fill up fast with 2-unit letters |
| Discord display name, messages | Yes | Usernames accept only plain lowercase letters, numbers, _ and . |
| Free Fire / BGMI name | Usually | No published character list โ check the rename preview first |
| Old Android (before 7) and some smart TVs | Often boxes | Fonts there lack the maths block |
If a letter shows as an empty box, the readerโs device is missing it โ what are fancy fonts explains which styles are safest. For slanted text only, the italic text generator has more italic variants. Free Fire and BGMI are trademarks of Garena and Krafton; FontFancy is an independent site.
Accessibility note: screen readers often read serif Unicode letters as โmathematical bold capital Sโฆโ or skip them, and search boxes may not match them. Plain-text fallback: keep your name or key words in normal letters somewhere nearby.

Serif text FAQ
Can I use serif fonts on Instagram?
Not as a real font โ Instagram shows every bio in its own sans-serif typeface. What works is Unicode serif letters such as ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐ or ๐ผ๐ก๐๐๐๐: copy them from this page and paste them into your Instagram name, bio or caption. Your @username still accepts only plain letters, numbers, periods and underscores.
What is the difference between serif and sans-serif text?
Serif letters have small strokes, or feet, at the ends of their lines (๐), while sans-serif letters do not (๐). In Unicode both exist as separate styled alphabets, so you can copy either one; the serif set starts at U+1D400 and the sans-serif set at U+1D5A0.
Is there a regular, non-bold serif text to copy?
No. Unicode has serif bold, serif italic and serif bold italic alphabets, but no plain serif one โ plain letters simply show in whatever font the app uses. For a thin serif look, italic serif (๐๐๐๐๐) is the closest option.
